Current Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer with the Action Community!

The London Abused Women's Centre welcomes both men and women to volunteer at the agency. We have three volunteer areas, special events and fundraising, child care, and reception support. The London Abused Women's Centre offers comprehensive orientation and training about both the agency and the issue of woman abuse, a safe environment to work in, and a great opportunity to meet new friends and colleagues.

Special Events and Fundraising

If you'd like to meet some really great and interesting people and have four hours a month to give, join our special events team. We raise lots of much needed money by running bingo's, and volunteering at special events like the International Women's Day Breakfast, the Runners' Choice 5 km Run, London music talent contest and many other events. If you like having fun, laughing and hearing the cash registers ring, we need you to join our team!

Child Care Support

Child care volunteers work directly with children by providing an enjoyable, safe and recreational environment for children whose mothers are engaged in agency services. This action area is particularly suited to individuals who love snuggles and giggles. If you have four hours to give each month and want to make the difference in the life of a child, you're the right fit for us.

Reception Support

The reception Support volunteers provide reception support including clerical duties such as answering the door and welcoming clients. Training will be provided on relevant policies and procedures, with an emphasis on client confidentiality and safety. This position will involve a commitment of 2-3 hours every week. Individuals are asked to make a minimum commitment of six months.
