Current Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer with the Action Community!

The London Abused Women's Centre welcomes both men and women to volunteer at the agency. We have three volunteer areas: Special Events and Fundraising, Child Care, and Reception Support. The London Abused Women's Centre offers comprehensive orientation and training about both the agency and the issue of woman abuse, a safe environment to work in, and a great opportunity to meet new friends and colleagues.

Special Events and Fundraising

To be able to provide the important services that we offer at no-cost and in a timely manner, we need to do fundraising. That is where our Special Events Volunteers come in. During the year, LAWC holds various fundraisers of different sizes. Our 4 major fundraisers are: the Annual International Women’s Day Breakfast & Auction, the Annual Downtown 5K Run with Runners Choice, Purple in the Park with the London Majors Baseball Club, and numerous fundraisers during our annual Shine the Light on Woman Abuse Campaign in November. From selling 50/50 tickets to informing businesses and the community about what we do, there is a place for any man or woman to support us in these efforts. If you'd like to meet some really interesting people, like having fun, and want to share in our successes, join our team! More details found HERE!

Child Care Support

Child care volunteers work directly with children by providing an enjoyable, safe and recreational environment for children whose mothers are engaged in agency services. This action area is particularly suited to individuals who love snuggles and giggles. If you have four hours to give each month and want to make the difference in the life of a child, you're the right fit for us.

Reception Support

The reception Support volunteers provide reception support including clerical duties such as answering the door and welcoming clients. Training will be provided on relevant policies and procedures, with an emphasis on client confidentiality and safety. This position will involve a commitment of 2-3 hours every week. Individuals are asked to make a minimum commitment of six months.
